I removed the track rod in order to get the two radius arms off, and noticed that it was not as straight as it once was, so a new one was ordered.
The 110 has two compartments in the rear tub for jerrycans, one on each side (well it is a V8 after all!) and these have been dismantled, thoroughly cleaned by means of a wire brush on a grinder, and primed with Unidox ready for the next coat. There is now a 1/8" layer of dust over everything in the garage!
The gearbox crossmember has also been removed (I spread the chassis using a scissor jack) and that is next on the list for wire brushing. Half a bucketful of rust flakes and sand came out of it...
Regarding the footwell replacement; I bought some replacement footwells from Craddock's, but they are for a Series vehicle not a 110, so some modification has been necessary. It is possible to replace footwells with the bulkhead in place, but in my case the bulkhead has been taken off anyway.
I started by using a wire brush on a grinder to expose all the spot welds holding the footwell in place.
I then drilled out all the spot welds, and also those on the replacement footwell to separate the side panel. Placing the side panel on the old removed footwell shows the difference between a Series footwell and a 110. I cut out a filler piece using some scrap sheet metal.
