Here is the crossmember with the new holes drilled, and reinforced internally with some square tubing.
The tow-hitch was then fitted so that the holes in the new steel plate lined up correctly, then the steel backing plate can be welded into position over the hole.
The windscreen was then removed - I really struggled to get those bolts out! Some corrosion is evident; it is certainly patchable so far but will need to see what the rest of the bulkhead is like at a later date...
The front floor plates and gearbox tunnel covers were then removed. It certainly looks like it got wet under the rubber insulation at some stage! The footwells appear to have been patched once already, so maybe new footwells will be required... will wait until I get the front wings off before I decide.
